A complete commercial kitchen and bar, built in shipping containers for a remote area of Queensland.

Bella Manufacturing worked with Bulloo Shire Council as part of their multi-stage infrastructure upgrade at the Noccundra Sports Ground to build a shipping container kitchen that serves as a permanent, high-capacity commercial catering facility to service large-scale outback events such as its famous annual rodeo and gymkhana. 

Built to commercial code, ready to plug in

The containers were constructed with food-grade insulated wall panels and 304 stainless steel benching, with commercial-grade coved vinyl flooring throughout to meet food safety requirements. Each unit includes a dedicated hand wash station, food-grade water filtration, hot water service, emergency lighting and exit signage, and LED lighting for full-time operation. 

The full fit-out was designed to comply with ANZFSA 3.2.3 food premises standards, with commercial gas, electrical and plumbing installation carried out and certified by licensed trades before delivery, so the containers arrived ready to connect and open rather than requiring further on-site construction.

Designed and documented for council approval

Because the project was delivered for a local council in a remote shire, full CAD design documentation was produced up front to support council permits and approvals, with every drawing signed off before fabrication began. Bella’s in-house design and construction team carried the project from initial concept and engineering drawings through to a fully engineered, custom-fabricated result.

The container is fixed permanently onto the Noccundra Sports Ground arena circuit, situated just off the Wilson River. It functions alongside the historical Noccundra Hotel precinct, consolidating the sports ground as a major community hub capable of hosting regional gatherings without relying on temporary mobile food trucks.

A model for remote and regional builds

The project shows what a shipping container conversion can do for regional and remote communities where a conventional commercial build isn’t practical: a fully certified, code-compliant kitchen and bar, built and tested in the factory, then freighted to site ready to serve.
